Specialist Supported Housing

Homes for people with complex needs

Specialist supported housing provides homes for people with a learning disability, autism, mental health needs or other complex needs, who need care and support to live in a home of their own.

We work closely with local authorities, care commissioners and the Regulator of Social Housing to make sure the right homes are available for the people who need them.

As the UK’s leading and most trusted specialist housing management company, MYSHON brings the experience, systems and scale that commissioners, Registered Providers and investors expect from a specialist supported housing partner.

The landlord

A Registered Provider owns or leases the homes and holds the tenancies.

The care provider

A care provider registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) delivers each person’s care package.

Our role

We provide the intensive housing management: looking after tenancies, the building and the day-to-day running of the scheme, so the care team can focus on the person.

Support planning

Joined-up records with Pyramid G2

Our housing teams use Pyramid G2, a housing management system from Omniledger. It keeps each tenant’s support case, support plan and records in one place, so the right information is always to hand. Housing officers update records while out on visits using its mobile working tools, and managers can see live reports on how each tenancy and scheme is going.

Regulation

Meeting the new supported housing rules

The Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023 introduces National Supported Housing Standards and local authority licensing of supported housing in England. The standards cover person-centred support, empowering residents, the quality of the home, staffing and safeguarding, meeting local need, and having a clear statement of purpose for each service.

We are bringing our schemes, policies and staff training into line with the standards now, so that we are ready for licensing as councils introduce it. Where the Act applies to the homes we manage, we will make sure they meet the standards and hold the licences they need.
