IT & Systems Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 p/w

Location: Harrogate (3 days in office, 2 days from home)

 

Job Description

We are looking to recruit our first in-house IT and Systems Manager to lead the IT infrastructure and development of our systems and IT capability as we grow. Currently our core infrastructure is outsourced. We use a mix of on-premise, web-based, and application enablers such as Office 365, sharepoint, CAFM system (Fixflo), MS Dynamics (Finance), and Tenancy Management (Kinetics).

The IT Systems Manager will have the autonomy to evaluate the current hosting, system capability, security, and data sharing setup and make recommendations to improve the status quo to ensure our IT works for us, driving automation, increased data security, backups and disaster recovery, and modernisation with future-proofing in mind.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Microsoft products, sharepoint, data visualisation tools such as Power BI, device management (tablets, laptops), and a proven track record of delivering IT projects and services to the highest standards.

They will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently. Understanding of working in an SME environment with the challenges and opportunities that creates, would be advantageous as the role is hands-on and can be developed over time to meet the changing needs of the business.

The role is hybrid, 3 days in our Harrogate (HG2) office and 2 days from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT function.
• Work closely with the outsourced core infrastructure partner.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
• Enhance the security of the company’s network and systems.
• Monitor systems capability and best use and make recommendations for improvements including moving to a cloud based environment.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify and address technology needs.
• Manage IT projects from initiation to completion.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and advancements.
• Manage the security and integrity of data and IT systems included how data is transferred and stored.
• Conduct cyber audits and testing of security across our network and ensure our system partners operate a secure and robust platform for our data.
• Train staff in the use of IT systems and software.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience as an IT Manager or similar exposure role
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 environment, Power BI, on-premise and cloud hosting, Windows, Firewall, Network Security, Backup (Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity), and Office applications
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide effective solutions
• Confident individual with good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels and communicate to users in a clear, non-technical language.
• Must be comfortable with working in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
