Assistant Management Accountant

Reports to: Management Accountant

Salary: £27,000 – £29,000 depending on experience

Hours: 40 p/w

Location: Harrogate (3 days in office, 2 days from home)*

Job Description

The Assistant Management Accountant will work alongside the existing finance team and report into the Management Accountant providing Finance support to MYSHON and its clients and Group companies. The role focuses on a processing daily banking, sales recharges to clients, reconciliations and the preparation of the financial accounts for a key client which consists of reviewing and posting accruals/prepayment/deferments and banking and reconciliation of bank accounts.

The Finance team all interact daily with overlap across roles leading to this role being varied and an opportunity to gain experience in a variety of Finance areas. This is a well functioning and friendly team, with strong growth and improvement plans for 2023 and beyond. This position requires strong financial accounting, systems, and process skills, with experience of preparing and presenting management accounts internal and externally required. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in statutory requirements, including Tax, VAT, and cash management. We are recruiting for two positions, one of which will also have direct line management of an Assistant Management Accountant who help prepare the financial accounts.

This is a well functioning and friendly team, with strong growth and improvement plans for 2024 and beyond. This role is a new role created off the back of significant growth.

*This is a hybrid working role, and as a new employee, a minimum of 4 days a week in the office will be expected during the initial 1-2-months of the 6-month induction period, reducing to 3 days in the office once the role holder is comfortable performing the role autonomously.

Key Responsibilities

• Finance support to MYSHON and Group companies
• Working alongside the Management Accountant to deliver a robust set of financial accounts for our clients and group companies
• Preparation, review and analysis of accurate and timely management accounts including commentary
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits
• Credit Control assistance, in particular service charges from clients.
• Raising sales invoices to clients
• Dealing with local authorities, utility providers and debt collection activity

The above outlines the main duties and responsibilities of the position, however, this cannot be comprehensive and other duties, as directed by the company and within the role holder’s capabilities may be required. For example, we have supplementary responsibilities open to all employees including first aiders, mental health first aiders, and fire wardens with full training provided.

Skills

• IT Skills, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Microsoft Navision and Continia skills desirable but not essential as training is provided

Essential Experience & Qualification

• 1 year previous experience in a Accounts Assistant or Assistant Management Accountant type role.

Desriable

• Full driving licence and use of own vehicle
• Working towards a recognised Accountancy qualification – MYSHON offers study support through the apprenticeship scheme for employees on a permanent contract.
